Asked whether he thinks the country’s investment climate is favourable to investors, Mr. Kirton – who was in Accra for the 53rd General Assembly of the World Trade Centres Association – said Ghana remains an enduring and resolute economy despite the recent crisis. “There is a lot of interest, not just from Guyana but also other countries,” he said; adding that from his interactions, investors are particularly keen on opportunities in a number of areas including energy, light-manufacturing, shea butter processing and real estate. “There is a lot of interest from around the world, and I think there is a lot of interest in the private sector here from the interactions and visits we had; because the sector seems very stable and well-organised, and I think that augurs well for the future,” he said. He particularly singled-out the warm and hospitable nature of Ghanaians as one factor that endears the country to investors. “All I want to say is that I am very pleased with the warm hospitality of the people of Ghana. Those I have met – and I am sure those I haven’t met – are very warm, hospitable people; and I think that forms a condition for good relations in the future. So I think as the governments are engaging at that level, it also drives an interest in people exploring the continent; and Ghana, as we said before, is the gateway to Africa. We believe that with an increase of people coming here exploring our sites, hotels and businesses, it creates more appetite for us to spend on food and drinks. More importantly, he said, the pandemic made it clear that countries like Ghana and Guyana need to collaborate in order to ensure food security.&nbsp; “We have to start exploring opportunities so there is a secured supply chain, so that should there be another pandemic or any other occurrence our people will have available the essential things needed to survive.&nbsp; So, I think this is the kind of collaboration that we are looking at.” AfCFTA With implementation of the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), the world’s biggest duty-free trade zone, he said Ghana can be the gateway for Caribbean investors looking to exploit business opportunities on the continent. “Yes, I think there are a lot of companies not only in Guyana but within the Caribbean; and we need to take advantage of that arrangement,” he said when asked what he makes of the AfCFTA. “I think more countries need to examine the trade arrangement here in Africa. We need to determine the rules of our regime and that kind of thing. I think having a Caribbean Embassy in Ghana is going to be key, because we will have diplomats, people of trade to get to the nitty-gritty of the mechanics and share with the private sector back in the Caribbean what can be done to seize the opportunities,” he explained.

Teamwork
and CollaborationTeamwork is the ability to work together towards a common
vision and I have learned this from my engineering colleagues and the broader team

we all work remotely from the comfort of our homes, we still engage in paired
programming and leverage collaborative tools like Slack and Trello to stay
connected and working in unison.&nbsp;&nbsp;This has greatly
helped my growth and I can see how my input is enabling us to achieve

Improved
Empathy for Dealing with Clients.One benefit of working in an environment like the one we
have at Plendify, we get the opportunity as software engineers to interact with
clients.&nbsp; Any indication of concern from
a client shows how companionate we are as a team because we take immediate
steps to address any client feedback. I have realized how important having
empathy is and this has strengthened my relationship with our clients as well. <o:p></o:p>&nbsp;The team has also taught me to ask more questions to help
understand client issues at the fundamental level and in the process enabling
me to find the best solutions. 4.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
Problem
Solving and Solution Design As part of my training, I have learned problem-solving
skills too! More specifically, this is in relation to finding solutions to
problems that face our brand ambassadors while they are out and about meeting
and serving our growing number of clients. Also, our solution designs using
technology - to help small and medium sized businesses grow - and at the same
time giving them online presence during this Covid-19 period is great to see. <o:p></o:p>&nbsp;It is
gratifying to see that our work is having a real positive impact on our
clients. &nbsp;5.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
Communication
and Presentation SkillsAs a very shy individual, I found it very challenging (initially)
to speak up or share ideas. However, with the coaching and prompting of my
teammates I have become more confident and gained better communication and
presentation skills. I am still growing and learning to communicate with
clients (both internally and externally) better by listening to them and proffering
appropriate responses and insights.<o:p></o:p>&nbsp;Finally,
I must state that an internship is extremely valuable because it prepares you for a
professional career and what is expected in the field.&nbsp;It also helps to build your confidence, gain real-world
experience, widen your network, and teach you how a professional workplace operates. I

challenging tasks to improve my mobile development skills and learn more about web development. It has been super

It is issued by the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).<h3>When is a TCC Required?</h3>The Income Tax Act states that you must provide a valid Tax Clearance Certificate to complete the following transactions:<ol><li>To clear goods in commercial quantities or goods meant for commercial purposes from a port or a factory in Ghana.</li><li value="2">To apply for a license to operate as a custom clearing and forwarding agency, as stipulated under the Excise Act, 2014.</li><li value="3">To register a title to land the Lands Commission requires a TCC.</li><li value="4">To bid for a contract to provide services awarded by Ministries, Departments and Agencies and other government entities.</li><li>To enable members of professional bodies to renew their license.</li></ol> Beyond the transactions listed above, some other situations where you may be asked to provide a Tax Clearance Certificate are:<ul><li>Receiving
 a visa : some Embassies in Ghana might require you to produce a TCC to 
validate the income you declared in your visa application.</li><li>Residence
 and work permits : to renew a residence or work permit, an expatriate 
must present a TCC to support their application for a residence and work
 permit.</li><li>Authorized supplier list : some businesses, private or government, may require a TCC to make their authorized supplier list.</li></ul><h3>How Do I Apply?</h3>The application process is relatively straightforward:<ol><li>To
 apply : send an application letter stating the purpose for which the 
Tax Clearance Certificate is required to your tax office.</li><li>Apply ahead of time : unfortunately, the administrative procedures of the GRA, can cause delay.</li><li>Be
 prepared : your TCC application may be delayed or rejected because your
 taxes are not in order. To avoid delays and rejections, ensure that at 
the time of your application, you have done the following:</li><li>filed all tax returns, including financial statements up to and including the last year of assessment;</li><li>addressed all audit and other queries from the tax office;</li><li>paid all taxes, interests and penalties due, or made satisfactory arrangements to discharge this obligation.</li></ol>A
 Tax Clearance Certificate is normally valid for a period of 3 months.
